The assistant made a better bet than him
  • I wonder is there is anyone shorting the commercial real estate market? A lot of strange parallels between today and 2008.

“He SCROUNGED AROUND $147m from friends” Damn he’s got good friends

Sometimes you just have to take a chance. It's scary and can be disasterous, but it can also win everything. Great vid!

Great idea of natural lighting for the host, the content is great as usual.

So it is actually Pellegrini that found the problem with subprime mortgage, not Paulson. All Paulson have done is pouring money for the trade
  • Why did Burry get all the press and none of the other people in this story….including Paulson? I would like to see biographies on each man who bet the same way Paulson did. Sounds as if their backgrounds and jobs were a bit different but they all came to the same conclusions.
  • I also heard that Bill Ackman, made his fortune by making the same bet on the CDS.

Basically, the theme of the 2008 mortgage crisis was don't lend to poor people, (which can vaguely mean don't lend to majority Black and Hispanics).
  • banks making bad loans caused the problems in 2008, not the fed lowering the fed funds rate.
  • Paulson & Burry made a great call in 2007. What have they done since?

0:42 I am sure he has skills. However, he was lucky. There are many smarter and work harder than him. I recalled many warned the subprime was going to meltdown so he was not the only one who knew. Nobody knew when it would happen. He was the lucky one to bet the market “at the right time” to win big. Just like the “big short” guy, I don’t think he could do it again in his life time!

    YA Tittle for Lou Cordileone

If you have poor credit, why would you make matters worse by taking out a mortgage? You're an adult; you know yourself. Or should. If it's been hard for you in the past to repay debt, why would you take out a mortgage?
