  • Don't focus on language. Focus on structure data and algorithm
  • @YEDxYED
He certainly isn’t a millionaire by doing software engineering but the way that software engineering has taught him to think has probably helped outside of the industry
  • @Phriffo
That's how Python 2 coders felt when Python 3 came out😂
  • Many people think computing is only software. Learn hardware too.

it's not the language, it's the way how you think about solving problems.
  • @isakawilliam
yah thats true....software engineering is an everchanging field...languages get obsolete each day

C++, and javascript can't get outdated , unless you are in data science you may not use it that much then

For those not aware, ChatGPT has been given access to the internet in the next release "Plugins." What does this mean? There are thousands of academic papers online written on the subject of algorithmic trading alone that you can have it convert to your own strategy then ask it to debug the code for you. I've done it with GPT4. The only limitation will be your imagination. AI is going to replace many white collar jobs so get in front of the AI revolution while you still can.
  • Thank you for the advice sir, I’m currently going into bioinformatics and I’m realizing how programming is always changing. It is honestly hard to keep up but actually pretty fun if you like learning.

Going into MIS degree first because I don’t think I can handle computer science right now and want a safer open which is more open. I might try a masters for computer science or IT or cyber after this degree

Did I hear: "I am a computer"...... this guy may have connections with zuckerburg or musk
  • Looking him made me remember one of my frnd I met 5 years after college. He looked just like him, bald and old and tired and irritated. And when I got worried about his health and asked him if he's doing well.. He said, "Working in IT is not stressful at all" - John(25 yr old)

I was encouraged to learn about Computers in High School and then in College Computers were necessary for Statistics and Econometrics and there are a never-ending list of uses and applications for computers. Ev en modern day phones are extensions of memory, microchips and computerization.
  • This is software engineering industry lol, not computer science. Computer Science is about designing, using, optimizing algorithms and data structures, it’s about logic and discrete math. If you’re coder and sit around all day using your coding skills for business purposes it’s not computer science, it’s software engineering
