Shelee Art BLOOM HACK!! I made one minor change and GOT THIS!

Published 2023-05-16
The Shelee Art Bloom Technique is a fan favorite. It took the fluid art world by storm... Many people continue to struggle with finding there look. I'm here to help you with a hack tip I've never shared!

So if you haven't mastered the bloom yet you need to do this first.... Skip your pillow paint. You don't need a pillow to bloom, you need a pillow to move. ( WATCH THIS VIDEO:    • #30 Shelee Bloom Acrylic Pouring | Bl...  ) You just need to test your recipes using 2 colors only (because who wants to waste paint). Find one that produces cells (remember I told you this isn't a beginner video). Here is a video on how to mix your pouring medium:    • #71 In-depth Pouring Medium Recipe Bl...   I recommend only using quality tube paints... this is your Level 1 and 2 acrylic paints like Liquitex, Master's Touch, and Amsterdam. pigments and fluid acrylics require additional products and testing!

Watch this video for cell activator alternatives:    • Comparison Of 6 Cell Activator Recipe...

Now you have cells but struggle with the blow right? Take a rectangle canvas (you don't need to use more than 3 colors). You have a recipe that produces cells so now the focus is strictly on blowing out the cell activator. I want you to create 3-4 blobs on your canvas layering your paints the same and start blowing your puddles out (of course after adding your cell activator) Try putting your hairdryer directly on top of the bloom to see what happens... Try different angles but record yourself to see the reactions. Try blooms with and without a hair diffuser. Look at this video! You want that helicopter effect. The ultimate goal is to spread your cell activator out as much as you can over your paints without digging into the pillow. Your diffuser may be directing to much force into your paints, not allowing the full potential of your cell activator to spread. Now we also need to look at our hair dryer. I don't thin k you need anything stronger than 1500 watts. Too many watts and your paints will be blown over. I have found much success with these small travel hairdryers with low wattage.

So just maybe you are just a few tweaks away from average blooms to spectacular blooms. Try this BUT REMEMBER to record and/ or take notes.

Mr. Brown, I absolutely adore your work! The colors in your paintings just pop and watching your videos has been such a source of inspiration for me. You're the first artist I've come across who encourages beginners like me to just get a large canvas and keep practicing. Your advice has truly made a difference. Normally, I tend to get frustrated and take breaks when things don't go as planned, but tonight I decided to try something different. I grabbed an extra floor laminate panel and just poured and blew, poured and blew! Each bloom improved as I went along. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your guidance and encouragement. Warm regards, Roxane Gibson

"A Tale of Two Blossoms"...This is the first time I have viewed one of your demonstrations. I was very impressed, especially for a man with a sense of humor and jewels of wisdom to accompany it. I have all of my supplies purchased almost, now to find a place I can use for a studio until we move. I'm including in our home search an extra room or building I can use for a studio where I can keep all my supplies out of a huge plastic tote; and keep an easel set up all the time, too. I've always done still-😊😊lifes and landscapes. I never thought I would care about doing abstracts until I started watching all of you who have gotten a headstart that I can learn from!😊
