Today I show you how to change or replace a single pillar bathroom basin tap. I'll show the plumbing and fixing of the tap, step by step, DIY.

This basin tap is leaking and I'm going to show you how to change it. Perfect for DIY ers, apprentices and homeowners. I'll show you turning off the hot and cold water, removing the old tap's flexible pipe connectors and plumbing. Unclamping the tap from the basin and installing, clamping and plumbing in the hot and cold water supply to the new tap (or faucet) plus even adding two new inline valves. Replacement of basin taps shouldn't be hard...you can do it!

You will never know what this video meant to me. Fixed and fitted my leaking bathroom tap at FIFTY FIVE YEARS OLD. FIRST TIME EVER. Love and respect for this great video. Priceless lol

Mate that tap spanner is genius!! Just been looking at my tap like oh man how am I gonna do this

Sir, you are lifesaver. My basin tap broke last night. I watched this video early this morning, ordered the piece on Amazon same day delivery, and just fixed it. Total cost: £27.99 for the new tap. Seeing how easily I fixed this thanks to you, I am now ordering the flushing system for my toilet, which has been leaking. Gonna fix that tomorrow after watching your video about that. Thanks so much for uploading this kind of stuff. It really makes a difference. Cheers.
  • Thank you so much for this super clear video! My tap has been leaking a bit for a few months and this has given me the boost of confidence that I’ll be capable of replacing it myself.

You've made me learn something about plumbing today, from your video. I now know how to rotate the valves, to stop the flow of water. My son broke the head of the basin tap, water was flowing continuously, and I couldn't get a plumber immediately, so I went to YouTube and found your video, which enabled me to stop the water flow. Thank you so much. Ibrahim.

Little tip for people, a box spanner set comes with 3 sizes. Can put one in the end of another extending it. Thank me later
  • @mattshifu
Excellent. Managed to replace a tap myself. Isolation valves did nothing though even when I turned them so had to turn mains off under sink. Thanks for the excellent video.

Hey you! Thanks for your vids, it’s so cool that someone seems to genuinely want to help people out. I’ve used your tips for at least 1 thing in every room in my house. You are a proper legend. Cheers!
  • Im so glad im not the only one who talks to old taps, but ill never talk to plastic fittings.
  • Very helpful, thank you. My son kindly offered to change my basin tap for me and I watched the video before 'helping' him. It didn't exactly go smoothly, but he was ultimately successful and I was able to offer some helpful comments along the way (to balance out the annoying ones).

Great vid! I had to replace a tap in the downstairs loo, I wasn't sure if it was a job I would be able to do or call in a plumber. So easy after your vid! Gave me the confidence to carry out the job and keep the Missus happy!
  • Only today I was under a basin trying to remove the nuts on the tap wishing I had a longer box spanner. That's a great little tool you had made. Wish I had one today 😂😂
  • @fransam1961
Excellent video. Nothing taken for granted. I have seen other videos where the rubber seal has been placed on top of sink under the tap, instead of between underside and sink....
  • Thank you for this video! It’s super clear, I was able to change my taps in under 10 minutes with no mishaps! 👍🏾
  • @Sarah-Collen
Great Video James, it's good to see the nitty gritty of what could happen and tips on valve changes and pressure release on these jobs too. See you on Thursday #Alearmy
  • @Nufleg
Nice tip about building the pressure locally by opening the bath taps 👌
  • I absolutely LOVE your videos you’ve helped me with so many jobs in the house 😃
  • @110thelight
You are a STAR!!! Thank you so much for this video… thought I would give it a go myself and thanks to your clear instructions it was a doddle… keep up the great work! 😊
