The International Court of Justice (ICJ) heard arguments regarding South Africa's request for additional emergency measures in response to Israel's offensive on Rafah, a city in southern Gaza where over one million displaced Palestinians sought shelter during the conflict. According to human rights lawyer Geoffrey Nice, South Africa's statements at the ICJ hearing marked a significant shift, asserting that Israel's actions demonstrate "genocidal intent" towards Gaza. Initially adopting a softer stance due to Hamas attacks, South Africa now alleges that Israel aims to destroy Gaza and its people. The court may identify an increased risk of genocide, potentially resulting in the protective measures requested by South Africa.

  • South Africa is doing more that the major Arab countries combined :Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Jordon.

South Africa has stood out with the Palestinian people to stop the injustices by the occupation. The history has been recorded.
  • ICJ must be dissolved if they don’t agree with South Africa’s position
  • It's likely that the court will say Israel must stop, but can continue. This is the ridiculous hypocrisy we have to live with.

Please do not ask us to wait any longer for a final decision by the ICJ. We are out of patience. Every day we see more death rain down on the Palestinians. It is shameful. Someone DO something quickly. The Palestinians and the world can wait no longer. God bless you in your work.
  • South Africa has moral leadership. Sadly, it stands almost alone in that regard.

Geoffrey Nice makes an excellent point about this being a case for the law and the ICJ, not for politics at the UNSC.

And what more evidence does this court need to gather? To give Israel more time, is to allow them to finish what they have started, which equals complicity to its g-cide.
  • 5:30 He is wrong there. Israel did not have to be like this. They could have settled there without throwing Palestinians out, they could have bought land and houses instead of stealing them, there could have been a single state with more than one nation in it, as there are so many in the world.
