Stop Supporting R*cism. Social Media Money.

After the video a white girl using the "n" word went viral this week, I wanted to share my hot take on how folks who disagreed with her language ended up giving her the biggest career opportunity of her life. And I'm hoping we can all evaluate who and what we are platforming on social media moving forward.

    “Your engagement is currency.” 💎💎

You are so eloquent! Rage bait is so tempting sometimes but i much prefer to engage with content made by BIPOC, queer folks, things that are artistic, creative, insightful, funny, authentic...always happier when I've spent my time with things like that!
  • Your engagement is currency is a BAR!!!! She knew exactly what she was doing and it’s sad. Thx for your POV on this. We don’t see engagement as currency but it’s just like “all publicity is publicity, good or bad” but it should never be at the cost of anyone’s race or sex. It’s sickening.

I don’t like that word not for the fact that I have a son that is 1/2 black, but it is in general a bad word to me. People using stuff like that to get followers omg I just can’t. Love your videos 💜

A lot of the people on TikTok who fall for rage bate like that absolutely DO understand the value of their engagement, as proven by the TikTok movement in support of Palestine. Someone active on 'woke' social media will probably be very familiar with videos raising money for families trying to evacuate Gaza and know to like, share, comment at least 9 words, watch for at least 15 seconds, watch the video twice etc. Some people might do all that in support of a cause on one video - and then do all the same things on a rage-bait video spreading hate almost immediately afterwards! The irony is WILD.

I like engaging with encouraging and informative content. I wonder if we should have like a designated spokesperson in these cases 😂 I feel like everyone wants to say something. They all want to have that viral comment, but in the end it just makes things worse. Great video!
