Red Bull Hardline 2024 has been my downhill racing highlight of my whole career. After finishing a finals run in Tasmania I knew I was capable of completing this insanely difficult track but the new changes have made it harder than ever. Qualifying was awesome but finals didn't work out. Here's my POV of the day and a huge congrats to Ronan Dunne and Bernard Kerr for first and second place, their winning runs are amazing to watch. Also Juanver is a hero for third place! Thanks to the crowd, medics, marshals, TV and media people, catering chefs, uplift drivers, sponsors, John my mechanic, Gemma, my parents and of course Jono for pushing me to ride these huge jumps all week and race! Legends

  • What an absolute class act Matt! Such a nice guy, apologizing to the crowd for something completely out of your hands. You were killing it on your final run too. Next year legend!!
  • After watching all week, was gutted to see race run end. You got the canyon gap though!

Matt definitely was one of the bright stars of this Hardline.... Not there to win but to push his own limits and check off his own goals..... Which is super relatable for most of us everyday riders.... Mattt seems to truly be enjoying this format of riding. Well done depsite the tire issues. but that is racing....

That course was brutal on bikes. The whole race was decided on the top section; the only people who were able to gain any time below that were the top 3. Ronan and Bernard were superhuman.

Matt is the only guy who can sound so angry and calm at the same time
  • @stujm8376
This is why I love MTB. True sportsmanship. I’m gutted for you, but the fact you apologised for something out of your control to the fans shows what a gentleman you are. Respect. You’re always a pleasure to watch
  • Matt I think everyone will agree super super proud of your journey this year so far! From a slopestyle guy to doing full runs top to bottom at Hardline Events! Mate absolutely epic! Will continue to follow your journey ever since Covid backyard builds!

Looking from POV doesn't do any justice to these tracks. Those downhill paths are absolutely vertical! Must be great being part of the elite crew that is actually able to concur such tracks. Awesome content man!
  • @TheRotundRider
Be super proud of your Hardline Matt. You came out completely blind and was one of the first people to ride the new top section in absolutely horrible muddy conditions. And then became one of only two to clear the canyon gap. Even without the finish, I'd say your Hardline was legendary.
  • @niejestemnim
Godziek said that Rampage was nothing compared to that, that tells exactly how absurdly hard this track is
  • @hallstewart
I think you can be very proud of what you (and Jono) have done. No one can take the canyon gap test jump away from you! You have been great ambassadors for hardline this year. The race got 69K views and a good chunk of that was down to you.
  • @jackbelmont1502
Watching this makes Ronan’s winning run look so much more impressive! Dude was absolutely FLYING. Huge props to all the riders who can make it down this track!!
  • @simirving
Gutted for you Matt. Although your run ended abruptly, your positivity when chatting to the crowd, shines through. Well done.
  • @harrijones8349
Loved watching you Matt I was a Marshall gutted you couldn’t do the final run
  • @kjbathe
I didn't know you before this week, but wow, you were the highlight of all these videos. Kind, funny, determined, and so polite. Good on you!!!

You’re the reason we watch Hardline, Matt!!!!! I watch all of the boys content religiously running up to hardline, and yours is my favorite this years! You really showed how MENTAL the terrain is with all the sharp rocks. Honestly I’m shocked that half the bikes survive a race pace run. CONGRATS man I can’t wait to see you do it again soon!!!!!!!
  • Win or Lose it takes big balls of steel to go down that course whether it’s practice or race run, you smashed it Matt and watching all the content has been awesome. Thanks for taking us all along for the ride.
  • @cb_bikes
such a shame for you and jono yesterday, had a great start too.
  • @David-cx4wy
Watched the race on sunday. That course was sacrificing bikes left right and center! Realy enjoy following this journey. Its inspirational. Keep up the good work mate and well done.
  • Great effort dude, was awesome to see your progression through the week (and from previous years) and like everyone so gutted for your race run, next year you got this top to bottom on race day 👍🏼🤘🏼
