  • Couldn’t describe such a ship better. Visually proportioned. And. Oh, the open deck space! So refreshing. Some other features of ships like this also show the change of sensibility over time. Like the lounge aspect at the landing of the atrium. Maybe there was a time when the sky-high atrium was a new, exciting place to spend time. Maybe that’s one reason atriums have become stunted over time like on the newer at most, four deck high atriums on more modern ships. Maybe it’s just not as exciting or new for guests any longer. A beautiful ship they’ve contemporized swimmingly…eh…..so to speak. And kept “retro” in other cool and quirky ways - like the reflective metal ceiling in the gym. Lolz. Love it!

This class of HAL ships are our favorite. We especially like the genuine teak promenade deck which has unfortunately been replaced with petrochemical teak on the new ships. Glad that you pointed out the loss of the Lincoln centre, which we all miss and would have happily paid a cover charge (maybe a glass of champagne entry fee) as it completed our overall cruise experience.

Excellent video! BTW, we are just back from a British Isles cruise on the Nieuw Statendam and there is a piano trio and they performed an excellent Schubert Piano trio No2 (Masterwork series) in the B& B lounge. They also performed one night on the main stage. (lighter material)

Will be on Eurodam next May (2025) to Alaska, having sailed on her sister ship Nieuw Amsterdam last year. Even selected the same cabin :)

We are just starting into cruising and often are overwhelmed with the choices but one thing is sure we are not attracted to über ships. Our first retirement cruise we have planned is to the Antarctic with the Magellan Explorer. Smaller, more intimate and less partygoers is our style.
  • Excellent video as always! We were just on Eurodam this past Saturday, and the BB Kings has been converted to the Rolling Stone Rock Lounge.

That looks like about the perfect size ship for one of the big companies and looks very fun and relaxing. Glad you had a fun time. Down here there is a rumor that Carnival is designing a "ship" that will have 38000 passengers. If i understand the design the bow will be in Ft Lauderdale while the stern is in Bimini at the same time. Because of the length there will be golf carts in continuous use, at least one soft serve ice cream dispenser every two thousand yards, and because it is Carnival , at least five brigs with jail cells for at least 60 detainees each. While it will be equiped with engines once it is tied up at the docks, thte engines wil not be needed. Except to move the ship for an approaching storm. And if you celebrate it there Happy Father's Day.

We are thinking of taking our first cruise on Holland America in 2025 to the Caribbean. The Eurodam is the ship that's available for the cruise. Being you were on it recently was the ship in good shape considering it's a older ship? How is the service, food and entertainment? We normally cruise Celebrity Soltice and edge class ships. Thank you.

Lovely video, thank you for sharing. Was the casino non-smoking?
