Considering how high above the river level the vegetation is growing, water levels must at times fun much, much higher at times.

As incredible as that river is - you can see from it's geology how incredible it was ! During ice age melt and prior, that river must have been 50 feet deeper and raging like no tomorrow from the likes of the potholes .
