I could not take Black Girls Must Die Exhausted seriously. I wanted to like the book and I was looking forward to it but the first two chapters let me know that it was a DNF.

I really disliked Wahala and DNF’d it due to her obsession with colorism ; mentions skin type, and hair texture which I didn’t feel was necessary to the plot especially as an African Canadian who’s battled with folks who propagated these beauty standards as superior to others
