In this video, you'll see F40PH-2CAT's, F40PH-3C's, GP40FH-2's, GP40PH-2B's, and more from both New Jersey Transit and Metro-North. These locomotives can be seen roaring in and out of Newark Penn Station in Newark, NJ and Secaucus Junction Station in Secaucus, NJ. Please sit back, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of hard-working diesels in passenger service!

Wow, that's sad. Didn't realize that NJT is silently ditching all the F40's. Great video.

Stumbled across this quite by accident having found one of your other vids. I live in the UK and my fiancee and I visited New York last September and went to the terminal at Hoboken just to have a look around. It was so atmospheric with the loco powered trains and the bells ringing that we went back the next day to take a ride on one! We asked where to go to see freight trains, and someone said Secaucus, so that's where we went. No freight there though but it was an interesting ride and we loved the tone of those engines! As I understand it those F40s are being phased out so we were lucky to catch them. The terminal too is being remodelled, hope they don't ruin it! It's all multiple units in the UK now, no loco hauled passenger trains except the occasional special charter. Boring boring boring. I drive steam locos on the East Lancashire Railway and we also have a large fleet of diesels, so that's where I get my nostalgia top ups! Thanks for posting, happy memories.

Have you noticed how good they sound when amplified by the rock walls of the Bergen Tunnels?

I remember them diesel locomotives running on the Northeast Corridor the diesel Express started out of Hoboken then they ran it 5:15 p.m. 6:15 p.m. 7:15 p.m. And 8:15 p.m. And they always end up in Trenton New Jersey and then they all will run back to Hoboken
  • I was working next to the Secaucus station not long ago. That is one busy place! There's a cool abandoned tower by the river on the left side of the tracks if you're looking west from the station. Sweet NJT F40s and nice video Kyle!
  • Your videos are indeed very cool. It's like an actual storyline as you narrate. I had to sub to your channel.

4217 goes up north! wow. 4217 is a common engine on the Alantic City line in South Jersey.
  • It's nice to see that New Jersey Transit still uses those commuter diesels that originally came from the New Jersey Central Railroad what are those diesels called again?
