If it ever happened, I’d pay for a reboot of the COTE series from a different studio, Lerche just ain’t cooking.
  • Lets be real here the Light Novel Is the best as the others cut out quite a lot of parts that add to ayanokouji's character and make him seem like a edgy teenager

The consistency is insane🥶 you're definetely one of my favorite channels to watch. Great content bro. I like your voice.

Well, obviously, because books are generally more complex. Animes are usually adapted from the books (either Manga or Light Novels) and don't always have adapt everything (which is realistically expected). Anime can't adapt everything from the books of course. And sometimes the books need more content themselves (not too much skipping occurring in the story line) which can affect the anime or anything based upon it.

I dropped the anime after season 1 because I thought the MC is just basically a power-fantasy set in a more grounded world and anyone could insert themselves into him because of his lack of personality. Additionally, the anime as a whole felt like an intellectual version of One Punch Man but without all the fun. Now after you've explained the LN... I will still not watch the next season but I shall start reading the LN. The anime was really horrible at giving depth at any of the characters esp. the MC. Learning Ayanokoji's contradictions and aspirations, and how his nature contradicts these aspirations made the story 1000% more interesting than the edgy, flawless, robot we got in the anime. And in my personal opinion, Year 1 Manga exceeds the anime for the simple reason that they attempted to make the MC more interesting by giving him a facade personality that's similar to Kaito Kid from Detective Conan (Cased Closed). If done decently, this version could've been an alternate universe with a separate plot on its own.

These comparison videos are becoming more and more one-sided each vid. Banger as usual though goat 🔥

I've been reading the ln and there have been a couple times where I finished reading a chapter and was curious about how that scene would look animated, but I've usually been pretty disappointed after I watch it. From what little bits I've seen the ln looks way better, but I'll probably still give the anime a watch after I finish reading the series.

I think COTE should be rebooted with more episodes per season

The Real Question: I have only seen the anime so far. Should I read the manga or the LN as well?

Hey guys just a bit of a warning, right around 60%-70% of the way through it just turns into a bit of a spoiler monologue. Super interesting to get a full perspective leading up to that point, but if you're still interested in the story and only came here to seek out advice on whether you should read the manga or the LN, then I'd recommend stopping around 8-10 minutes in.

I'm convinced bro was grinding videos for like 6 months and is now just releasing them all.

The great thing about COTE is the characters. I don't see a lot of media have these many characters which are well written. I mean, how many characters have appeared in COTE that feel like NPC?
