FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions about the game):
(ゲームについてのよくある質問)
(日本語は翻訳してください deepLオススメ)

- When will it release?
Ideally in late March, 7PM EST, 11AM Japan time, but it is difficult to decide an exact release date or even release month, because the three major factors (the scratch trending page, my school schedule, and how much of the game will be completed) are almost impossible to predict. So we'll see what happens. When I do decide when to release it, there will be a countdown project so you will know what time it will release.

- Will the game be 2D or 3D?
It will be 2D in a similar style as Fortnite Z, but with extremely improved controls, basically like a brand new game. There will be a tutorial and you will be able to choose keybinds.
Most 3D scratch games are still very laggy and difficult to control, so no 3D yet.

- Will it have Mobile controls?
I will try to add mobile controls with a joystick (but it might be awkward). I will also share a Lite version, soon after sharing the main version, that will have reduced music, graphics, mechanics etc and will be easier to load for players on phones and weaker computers.

- How many items will there be?
Around 10. I might add more in future updates. There will be some specials.

- How will you make the map paint online?
It wasn't easy, and I had to analyze another Scratch cloud game, but the cloud map is already working and won't be a problem. The cloud engine can support over 10 players, even as many as 50, but less than 10 is probably ideal. If dozens of people are trying to play at once, I might have to make a 2nd server.

- Will there be Anarchy Modes and Salmon Run?
I probably can't make any of these modes just because of their nature: Many objects that need to be synced for all players is very likely to glitch and break while using the Scratch cloud. But if demand for these modes is insanely high, I might think about how I could make them in the future. I probably wouldn't be able to though.
There will be "Splatmeets" every 6 hours so that players can know to join at the same time.

- Can I help?
I really appreciate people asking if they could help with art, code, etc... but I think it's simplest if I work on the rest of it myself and just ask other people for suggestions and getting music/sound files.

- How did you make this art sync with the music?
The timer block is very accurate, and knowing the BPM of a song (this is 176) you can create a "beat" variable, and have everything move according to that. The parallax divides your mouse position by numbers like -5 and -10 to offset further and further back.

- Are you afraid of these projects getting taken down by Nintendo?
A little, but I'm not making any money from the game or claiming it as my own, and there are hundreds of decent Nintendo fan-games on Scratch (especially Mario), so unless they decided to come after every game on the site, I think I should be fine, at least for a while. If it does happen, I'll try to remake the game in a way that doesn't use the Splatoon name, music, or major designs.

- Why are you making stuff in Japanese lately?
I've been learning since June 2020 and I know enough to be able to communicate with Scratchers, sort of. The Japanese Scratch community is insanely huge and active, so I'm really glad that as long as I'm on Scratch I'm able to make stuff that both the English and Japanese community can enjoy. Splatoon is also really popular in Japan so I'm really excited to share this game for those fans.
Do you want to learn Japanese? Look up "Hiragana Ninja" on Scratch. It's what I used, and it's great. You can also use Duolingo, Anki, and YouTube channels like Japanese From Zero.

- Where is Fortnite Z Season 2?
It's a long story. I've worked on 2 separate versions of the game so far, but finished neither of them because of technical and motivational problems, and also the main reason why I chose to start working on a different game is because I was afraid the Fortnite games would get censored by Scratch because of the items you use in them, understandably. So I chose to try working on a new game, Splatoon, because it has some similarities to Fortnite Z while also being extremely Scratch-friendly, and has a large community of its own. In the future I might work towards sharing a remake and a successor to Fortnite Z. But for now, 2023, my focus is on Splatoon. I hope people enjoy it.
