My name is Kir (pronounced Kerr) and I started Oblong Polka Dots as an artistic outlet for makeup, skincare, and beauty!

I began showing an interest in makeup around 5 years old. I experimented with Tinkerbell pink peel-off nail polish, Mary Kay miniature lipstick samples, tubes of Lip Smackers, and the quintessential blue 80's eyeshadow. My dolls were my best and most reliable models. Time marched on and I grew up. I had a family and career of my own but always felt something was missing. The creative and quirky little girl was still alive and needed an outlet. So in 2012, I began working toward my lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist. I read makeup books, watched endless YouTube videos, and followed all of the professional beauty blogs. I even started my henna business!
